Benefits from the Use of the Aptitude Inventory
It is virtually impossible to fake a good answer on these inventories. Experts have tried and failed.
No psychological test has ever been proved to be unfair toward any minority group. This is especially true for inventories such as the AI. The AI can be readily defended in court.
If you have never used aptitude tests before, you may find that your present employees, and some applicants, seem to obtain lower-than-expected scores. This is a typical result for new users. The situation will correct itself in time for two reasons. First, you can expect to become better at hiring as you use tests and learn how to recognize more quickly applicants who fit the profile better. You will become a better interviewer. Second, as people in your job market learn you are using tests, those with weaknesses will stay away, and you start to see the "cream of the crop" apply with greater frequency. This is one of the less obvious benefits from testing.
Careful use of psychological tests can yield surprising results, and save millions of dollars even for small organizations. Recruiting costs are slashed to a minimum because the test is available to anyone who has access to the Internet. Travel costs drop dramatically. There is no more "turn around time" as with paper and pencil tests. Results are available to the employer at the "speed of light."next >>
